Woman Hygiene Hack: How to Prevent Chafing

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Sorry guys, this week's tip is for the ladies.  So, you may want to check out some other posts Ramblings has.

Ladies, I have a confession to make with y'all.  For those of you that do not already know, I am a full figured woman with plenty of blessings.  I have big hips and thighs, as well as a big chest.  Now, of course that is typically a plus for men but sometimes it isn't for me.

Ramblings Thoughts, Woman, Chafing, Hygiene, Tip, Trick, Hack, DeodorantNot only do I have to search for clothes that fit right but there are times, like summer, where I hate having all my curves.  Summertime is the worse because not only is it already hot outside, but I also work in a kitchen 40 hours a week so it is extremely hot.  Now, I can take the heat (that's why I stay in the kitchen...lol) but my body can't.  One word.....CHAFING!!!

Since I starting my journey to get healthier and lost weight, I don't chafe on the thighs but my chest chafes because I sweat and it seem to collect in the material that hold my underwire and then rubs against my skin and before I know it OUCH!!!!  I have a red angry rash.

Well, ladies if you suffer from chafing I am sorry.  I know how you feel and this is my confession....I know how to prevent it and I haven't told y'all sooner.  Please forgive me.  It was one of those things that I just didn't think to share.

So, what is my trick?!  INVISIBLE SOLID DEODORANT!!!  I use obviously a lady deodorant.  I use a solid because it has powder in it and unlike the spray deodorant, it doesn't have alcohol in it (which will dry out your skin).  So, I just apply the deodorant to the areas that I know I will have issues with and go about my day.  PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Questioning Humanity: All Lives Matter

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Ramblings Thoughts, Discussion, Current Events, Police Brutality, Police Shooting, Violence, Death, Protesting, Vandalizing, Black Lives Matter, All Lives Matter
If you have been a reader of Ramblings Thoughts for a while now, you would know that I have published many discussion pieces on police brutality.  It seems to be never ending, there is some terrible injustice of police ending an person's life unjustifiably.

Just recently, Alton Sterling and Philando Castile were victims of police letting their badge go to their head.   Alton Sterling was thrown to the ground and after a couple of minutes with two officers on top of him, Alton Sterling, an unarmed man, was shot point blank in the head.  Philando Castile was pulled over and after the officer asked for the typical license and registration, Castile told the officer that he in fact had a concealed weapon license and that there was a weapon in the car.  The officer then fatally shot him.

Question Humanity: All Lives MatterOf course after every incident when it makes headline news, the victim's past is brought up.  'Oh they were a menace to society before' or 'oh they had run-ins with the police before'.  We are all taught that people change and I am not saying that everyone changes for the better all the time but just because a person has a past does not mean they do not deserve the benefit of the doubt.  It is perfectly fine to be cautious but there is a big difference between caution and what these officers are doing.  These officers have absolutely no respect for any ones' lives when they could just kill men in cold blood.

I am obviously not the only one that has a problem with officers acting as if they have the right to end someones' life that didn't deserve it.  The flood of videos on social media where officers are mistreating or hurting citizens can be overwhelming.  But people are sharing these videos so that we the people will stand up and fight for what is right.  There are plenty of protests just recently for these acts of injustice.
Question Humanity: All Lives Matter
I am all for peaceful protesting, taking a page from the great Martin Luther King.  These injustices can not be resolved with more violence.  There was one peaceful protest where this woman who was nonthreatening was violently manhandled and arrested for protesting.  This is against our right as Americans, however, we will have an easier time defending a peaceful protester and getting the results we are seeking when we are not using violence or causing damage to property.

Causing damage to property is where I am having the biggest issue with all this injustice.  By no means is this acceptable for officers to take lives of people that did nothing wrong at the time of their death but why would we the people make those deaths by in vain by destroying property or with more violence.  I agree that there are plenty of officers out there that should not be in their uniform, however, there are some men and women in blue that are good officers.  Some of those good officers are losing their life due to the violence occurring because of those despicable, disgraceful officers.
Question Humanity: All Lives Matter
Just the other day, Black Lives Matter supporters vandalized a confederate war cemetery.  I understand being mad and I understand the confederate war being centered around racism, however, those in the cemetery gave their life for something that they may or may not have believed in.  We all know that when war is declared, you don't always get to decide whether or not if you want to fight in the war, let alone what side of the war you are on.  More importantly, people have to realize that was our history....whether you feel it was good or bad history; it is still our history.  We, the people have to own our history because that is how we grow as a society.  When you vandalize a piece of history, that happens to be a cemetery, you are saying that history doesn't mean anything and that "Black Lives Matter" more than any other lives.  Well, I am a proud supporter of ALL LIVES MATTER!!!  Whether you are black, white, brown, man, woman, cop, doctor or animal....ALL LIVES MATTER the same amount!!!

Come on y'all...don't let this divide us as a society.  Now is a time for all of us, of all races, join together and fight the injustices peacefully.

Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme Moisturizing Hair Styler

Curly hair....not matter what ethnicity you are, if you have curly hair you know how difficult and time consuming it can be to get your hair to look the way you want it to.

I know this has been a issue of mine for as long as I have been styling my hair.  I would add products after products to my hair so that I would have defined beautiful curls.  The only problem with this is the fact that all the products I was using was not only spending a hefty amount of money on the products but most of the time it left my hair crunchy because I used mousse or gel (or even both).  Then when I went to wash my hair, let's not talk about the hell I would go through trying to get all the products out and then brushing my hair after.

So, I eventually resulted to taking the time to straighten my hair or just throwing it up in a messy bun and calling it a day.  Now, I am not a girly girl that has to have her makeup done, hair and clothes just right but I do like to look good when I can.

I finally got some great information one day when I was getting my hair cut from a friend who is a hairdresser and more.  She told me that I have curly hair when all this time before that I thought I had wavy hair.  She said due to how long I keep my hair and the weight of it (because I have super thick hair), weighs down my curls.  She asked me how I style my hair and almost slapped me.  She said I have been going about styling my hair the wrong way, that I should be using curling cream and that is it to have defined curls, other than keeping my hair no longer then shoulder blade length or thinning my hair.

So, with that in mind, I started my search for curling creams that would work for me without being too expensive or leaving my hair looking like I haven't washed it in a month but still have a nice scent to it.

I had remembered that not too long ago I received some free samples for Miss Jessie and in those samples was a sample of Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme moisturizing curling cream.  It is said to be the perfect solution to dry kinky or curly hair.  On Miss Jessie's website, you can purchase an 8 oz tub of the Baby Buttercreme for $32 but you can also pick it up at your local Sally Beauty Supply Store.

So, is it worth the hefty price tag?  Does it help define my curls?  Does it smell good?  How does it leave my hair feeling and looking?  Click below to check out my video review.

I am always surfing the internet for different ways to decorate my home.  I love watching shows on tv that decorates homes on a budget.  With me moving into a new home today, I have been doing more and more research on decorating and DIY to save money and to be able to add my own touch.

Now, I have found some really great DIY projects that I would love to do but they are either very time consuming or expensive.  I know it would be worth the money but right now I just can't afford big expenses.  So, I have filtered my searches to only show me budget friendly DIY decor projects.

Bedding Hack: Quickly Add Sheets to Bed

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Now, I am not saying that we are morons and do not know how to make a bed.  That is not my intention at all.  I am just trying to shed some light on some information that may not be known that will help you make your bed a whole lot faster.

I know that personally it seems to take me a while to figure out the right way to add my fitted sheet back on my bed after I wash them.  I am always putting it on one corner and then go to put it on the other corner but it is too short....URGHHH!!!

I rip it off my bed...turn it and try it again to only find out that I turned it too much and I am still trying to put my fitted sheet on the wrong way!!!  I finally figure out the right way to put on the sheet but dang....all that time with just one sheet.  (I already hate the fitted sheet because you can't just fold it like a regular flat sheet.)

Well, if any of you go through the same thing, I have good news for you!!!  No more wasting time making your bed.  On both the fitted sheet and flat sheet (if you have not ripped them off), have tags on the corner.  That tag indicates that it is to be place on the bottom right side of your bed.  PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Super Teacher: Truly Uplifting the Students

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Wal-Mart.com USA, LLC

Ramblings Thoughts, Discussion, Current Evens, Hot Topic, Super Teachers, Uplifting Students, Chandni Langford

Many of us all agree that a teachers' job is absolutely the most important one there is out there.  They not only have to teach them the material to help them succeed in the next grade but they also have to teach children skills for life...perseverance, determination, leadership, cooperation, and loyalty just to name a few.  There are many teachers even buying their students supplies with their own money.  And we all know that unless these teachers are working in the private sector...they are grossly underpaid.

There are some teachers that are just there for the job and that is unfortunate but there are other teachers that end up being superheros to their students.  They end up making a major difference in a child's life.  Then there are those extraordinary teachers that really go above and beyond to make sure their students succeed.  Like this one teacher here in Maine that told her students when there was a bullying issue, that they may only have her as a teacher for one year but they will have each other for 13 years and they have to stick together and protect each other.  And I personally think teachers like this need to be praised and their story needs to be plastered all over the internet...their story needs to go viral.

With that being said, once again I was scrolling through my Facebook news feed the other day and came across this amazing story.  One of those exceptional, superhero teachers teaches fifth grade students at Evergreen Avenue Elementary.  Her name is Chandni Langford and she has a special way of uplifting her students to help them succeed.  Just like most fifth graders, her students have to go through 4 highly stressful days of core testing.  Studies have shown that some students cannot handle all the pressure and stress which makes them fail to have high test scores even if they know the material.
Ramblings Thoughts: Super Teacheer: Truly Uplifting the Students

Ms. Langford decided to do something to help her students start off their test day in high spirits.  She gave them each a pep talk that they could read.  She took the time to write personal messages to each of her students....on their desks (in a dry erase maker).  She did say that she found the idea of the personal messages from another teacher on pinterest.  But the personal messages helped her students, one student even went on to say that she was feeling nervous on the morning of the first day of testing, but when she read her message, her fear went away because she knew she could do it.

What an awesome idea!  Chandni Langford took her time to write 19 personal messages for her students, more than likely on her own, unpaid time.  I remember when I had to go through major test days and how nervous I was.  I wish I had a teacher that did that for me.  Chandni Langford is one of those teachers that should be getting paid an hefty salary.

What are y'all's thoughts?  Do you know of a teacher that should be mentioned and her or his story should be shared?

Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Lotion

Ramblings Thoughts, Hawaiian Tropic, After Sun, Lotion, Review, Video, Skincare, Suncare, Tan

Most people are out enjoying the beautiful, sunny weather that this summer has to offer!  But I know I hate putting all that time in the sun to get that beautiful sun-kissed glow (or burn), for the next week or so to be a peeling mess!!!

This is why when I was shopping for a sunscreen that would allow me to tan but still protect me and I stumbled across Hawaiian Tropic After Sun Lotion, I had to buy it!

It promotes 24 hour moisture right after a day in the sun.  It has a dual ribbon formula to help moisturize the skin with a rich lotion ribbon and a ribbon of aloe gel to cool the skin.

So, does it work?  Does it prevent the dreaded peeling?  Is it worth the $6.83 price tag?  Click below to check out my review video
