Mumma Journey: Subchorionic Hemorrhage Scare

So, now that I have announced my pregnancy to my family and the world wide web (click here for that post), I have been given all kinds of advance and stories....some good and some horrific.  With all that I have heard, I am understanding that motherhood is the most scariest precious experience that a woman can go through.  I knew there would be times that I would watch my child do something like fall face first and have my heart stop beating until I knew he or she was ok, but I did not expect to be scared for my child before I even got to see him or her in person.

What am I talking about?  Well, when I was about 6 weeks pregnant, I was at home and I started having really sharp stabbing and burning pain in my lower right side.  No matter how I positioned myself, the pain/burning would not go away...in fact, it just seemed to increase.  I finally came to the conclusion that I should go to the emergency room.

Of course, I don't know of anyone that likes the emergency room, but I really do hate it.  It seems like they always take forever and while you are waiting to be seen, all you end up doing is thinking.  So, of course, I am sitting in the waiting room crying because I am so scared of losing the baby.  I just found out I was pregnant and typically that was the time period when I would miscarry.

After several tests, an ultrasound and five hours at the emergency room, the doctor came in and told me that I have a small subchorionic hemorrhage.  The doctor then told me that it is common and that it is a 50/50 situation.  Half the time everything is fine where the hemorrhage absorbs itself and the other half of the time, the hemorrhage expands where it causes a miscarriage.

Of course with my history of miscarriages, I automatically thought the worse and asked the doctor if there was something I could do that would help the situation so that I would not miscarry.  The doctor then told me there was nothing I could do.  So, I spent a good amount of time worrying about losing my baby.

Then one day, I came across this article on Facebook from Mommy knows what's best giving me a great explanation of the hemorrhage and peace of mind.  She explains that it is very common to have this hemorrhage and that it is more likely that you will carry your baby to term....as long as you are not lifting heavy items and over stretching to cause any more tearing.  So, I just want to thank Mommy knows what's best for sharing this because it helped put my mind at ease.  (Click here to check out her article).

Update:  I am currently 14 weeks pregnant and the hemorrhage had absorbed itself.  All tests and ultrasounds have shown that my little gummy bear is doing just fine and growing normally.

Maple Holistics Tea Tree Shampoo and Hair Conditioner Review---100% Natural Dandruff Treatment

This review this week is for all my beauties that have itchy heads or have dandruff.  I have mentioned before that I have both and during the colder seasons, it is the worse.  I am always finding myself scratching my head because of the cold air and then dry heat.  Then that leads to my dandruff coming out to show them ugly white flakes speckled into my hair.

A while ago, I completed the 7-day Clear Scalp and Hair (click here for that review) and I did have a great result.  However, at about $7 per bottle and the fact that you have to use it for seven days straight, I really didn't stick with it.  Not to mention Clear has a bunch of ingredient that not only can I not pronounce but also contained chemicals.  If I am going to invest in shampoo and conditioner, I would prefer to spend the money on actual ingredients instead of chemicals.

So, I was pretty stuck using shampoo and conditioners that I prefer for the smell and then adding ingredients such as tea tree oil, jojoba oil and argon oil to help with my itchy scalp.  UGH...and let me tell you, it was not pleasant because sometimes, adding those ingredients would make the shampoo separate or super runny.  It was a hot mess.

Maple Holistics Tea Tree Shampoo and Hair Conditioner Review---100% Natural Dandruff Treatment

About a week ago, Haley Jones from Maple Holistics contacted me to see if I was interested in reviewing their tea tree hair products.  Of course, I had to go to their website and look to see what Maple Holistics had to offer and quickly accepted to review their products in exchange for the products.  So, they promote a number of great benefits (check them out here).  They guarantee your satisfaction or you get your money back, free shipping for orders over $25 (orders over $35 gets a FREE gift) and products are made in USA.  The Tea Tree Shampoo and Hair Conditioner promotes a 100% natural dandruff treatment that hydrates and moisturizes with essential oils.  There is also no use of parabens or chemicals and is cruelty-free.  To top all this off, you can snag the shampoo and conditioner set for $19.97!  Oh.....wait!  There is something even better!!!!  Maple Holistics has their own FREE SAMPLE program where if you click here, you can request samples for yourself.

So, is it worth the $20?  Did it help me with my itchy head?  Did it moisturize?  How did it smell?  Check out my video review below for all these answers.

Covergirl Peacock Flare Mascara

Ramblings Thoughts, Makeup, Review, Influenster, Covergirl, Peacock Flare, Mascara, Melting Pout, Liquid Lipstick

Well hello my beauties!  If you are into makeup then you know that we all have those few or even just one makeup go to. I know I do.  I always grab for my mascara and eyeliner.  I just don't feel myself without both of these on.  Besides they help make my blue eye stand out and pop even more.

However, no matter what your go to makeup is, you always run out and have to go out and buy more.  And that is when you start looking at all the different brands and benefits to each mascara (or what ever your go to make up is) has to offer.

If you have been a Rambling fan for any length of time, then you would already know that I HATE spending money on things that just isn't worth it.  This is why I test out products and let y'all know whether or not if it is worth your hard earned money.

So, I was contacted by Influenster to test out Covergirl Peacock Flare Mascara.  Of course I am always on the hunt for a good mascara so of course I jumped up and down, hooted and hollered to let them know I was interested.
Ramblings Thoughts, Makeup, Review, Influenster, Covergirl, Peacock Flare, Mascara, Melting Pout, Liquid Lipstick

Within a few weeks, my Peacock Vox Box arrived and inside was a full-size Covergirl Peacock Flare Mascara and a full-size Covergirl Melting Pout Gel Liquid Lipstick.  You can snag your own mascara and liquid lipstick for about $8 at Walmart.

Now, because I was a goofball and wasn't thinking, I forgot to apply and review the liquid lipstick on the video....OOPS!!!  I will say that I cannot give y'all a good review on this.  Besides the fact that the 105 color looks terrible on me because it is like a pinky peach color, it does not apply on smoothly.  If you look real close at your lips, it makes your lips look all cracked and dry.  Personally, for $8 the Melting Pout liquid lipstick is not worth it.

Spoiling Your Pup: Bark Box Review

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Ramblings Thoughts, Bark Box, Review, Dog, Dog Treats, Dog Toys, Subscription Box

There are a bunch of us out there that are pup parents.  You know who you are...the ones that treat your pups like your children.  They get to sleep with you or have a nice comfy bed of their own, you buy the healthiest dog food you can and you make sure your pup has treats and toys to chew on.  I know I am one of those people.

In January of this year I brought home my adorable Kioki.  He is a teacup pomeranian and is just a ball of fluff and energy.  I love how he smiles and plays with my mother's dog (a 150 pound German Shepherd/lab).  He is a sweet boy that loves attention but is a bit of a drama king.

With him being a purebred, I especially wanted to keep him healthy and happy.  Also, with him being a puppy I didn't want all my shoes and clothes torn up from his chewing, so I would go out and buy treats and toys for him to enjoy.  The only problem is he would much rather play with the cat toys and put his toys in 'safe keeping'.

So, 2 months ago I had the opportunity  (financially) to get a Bark Box.  I wanted to see what all the hype was about and I did want to spoil my little boy.

When ordering the box, they ask you what size your pup is...and because kioki is small...obviously I choose small and it costed $30 for the box.  It came in a matter of no time and had 2 toys and 3 treats in it.  And let me just tell you, Kioki goes crazy for just the box because of all the smells coming from it.

If you want to hear my full review, see what actually came in the box and see how Kioki reacts...click on the video below.

Creamy Mushroom Chicken Breast

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

With the cold weather upon us, there is nothing better than something warm and comforting to eat to finish up with day.  I love comfort food, but I can't always have stew or mac and cheese....it would all go to my hips and thighs.  I also don't always want to spend a bunch of time in the kitchen prepping, cooking and cleaning up after, just for a dinner.

With all this in mind, I still need to find meals that warm me up from a day being out in the cold weather without requiring too many steps.  With my craving for chicken due to my little bundle of joy growing inside of me, I stay thinking about different ways to make chicken.

That is when I remembered that so many people make a cream of mushroom chicken and I never tried it....I mean I have made chicken breast with sauteed mushroom but never have I cooked chicken with cream of mushroom soup.  It just seemed so simple to me.  Well, I wanted to try it, so here is my twist on creamy mushroom chicken breast.

Unplanned Gift: A New Chapter

Ramblings Thoughts, Pregnancy, PCOS, Miscarriage, Mumma Journey, Motherhood

So, many of y'all have read my journey in life with PCOS (click here for that article) and even read about my PSA on suggesting people to stop asking females the baby question (click here for the article).  Every female has their own story about becoming a mother, some stories tend to be a lot shorter than others.  I know I personally had jealousy for all those women that said it was easy for them to get pregnant or those other women that seemed to get pregnant every time they blinked and yet still didn't want to be a mother.  Of course the only reason I was jealous is because it wasn't easy for me to get pregnant and when I did, I miscarried.

Ramblings Thoughts, Pregnancy, PCOS, Miscarriage, Mumma Journey, MotherhoodEver since I can remember I wanted to have children.  I loved being around babies and children.  I just wanted to have little ones that looked like me to care for.  However, no matter how much I wanted children of my own, I didn't get any.  I used that time to immerse myself in lives of my family and their children.  My cousin had a baby and I ended up being there for him.  I was the one that got him hooked on SpongeBob and whipped cream as a treat.  Then my bother had his son and even to this day, he is the apple of my eye.

Even though I had children in my life, I still wanted children of my own.  When I did get pregnant, I would miscarry right soon after finding out I was pregnant.  I would always chuck it up wrong timing, wrong person.

Over the summer this year, I found this great guy.  We hit it off really well and soon I found myself spending more and more time with him.  Next, I knew I was feeling off and realized I was late.  I didn't want to think too much into it because by now I have given up on the thought of being a mother.  I ended up talking to my guy and of course that is when he got me a pregnancy test.  We definitely were not planning a pregnancy, however, here we are and as of today I am a little over 11 weeks pregnant!!!!

I am super excited because I have made it past the usual time that I have miscarried before.  I want to share my journey with y'all to help other mothers in the similar situation as mine.  I want to share any information that I found out to work.  Here is my pregnancy journey, come join me. Below is my first ultrasound at 9 weeks.

Roasted Parm Brussels Sprouts

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Now, I will be the first one to admit that eating healthy or eating your vegetables is not something I enjoy all the time....I would much rather eat a cheeseburger with loaded cheese fries or ice cream.  But if you are trying to eat healthier, I like I am, you have to step away from the ice cream and cheeseburgers and eat more fruit and vegetables.

I haven't had an real issue with fruit...I like them all.  Of course there are ones that I prefer over others...such as WATERMELON.  But when it comes to vegetables, there are a few that I just do not like.  Brussels sprouts is definitely a vegetable that I do not like.  People used to tell me that if you like cabbage you will like brussels sprouts....boy were they SO WRONG!!!

With that being said, I am a firm believer that you have to experiment with food.  Just because I do not like brussels sprouts boiled, that doesn't mean I would not like them cooked some other way with different seasonings.  Hence, my recipe for y'all to try

Roasted Parm Brussels Sprouts

Ramblings Thoughts, Tasty Tuesday, Cooking, Roasted, Vegetables, Recipes, Brussels Sprouts

What you need:

2-3 lb. brussels sprouts
2 c. bread crumbs
1 c. Parmesan cheese
1/2 c. oil
2 Tbsp. black pepper
2 Tbsp. garlic powder
2 tsp. salt

Directions:

1.  Preheat oven to 425.

2.  In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.  Make sure to thoroughly coat all brussels sprouts.

Maybelline Great Lash Royal Blue Mascara

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Ramblings Thoughts, Influenster, Maybelline, Mascara, Great Lash, Makeup, Review

I know I am not the only woman out there that loves her makeup.  Now, I do not have a huge suitcase of makeup, let alone even a drawer.  Even though every once in a while I will get in this mood where I want to change up my makeup and add some more to my look, I always end up with going back to wearing only 3 makeup products on a regular....eyebrow liner, mascara and eyeliner.

Through the years of always sticking with these three products, I have tried many different brands to find ones that I just cannot live without.  Not too long ago, I found the mascara that I cannot live without...thanks to INFLUENSTER (click here to check it out).

So, I was hesitant at first when I was asked by Influenster to try another mascara.  But I did notice that it was not in my go-to color of black, plus the fact that I would get to try it for free helped make my decision of trying it with an open mind.

I must say I do chuckle at seeing the actual tube of Maybelline Great Lash.  I say that because I remember when I was a little girl, sitting on the toilet (not using it though), watching my mom great ready or as she called it, 'putting her face on'.  Now, this is back in the 80's and wouldn't you know it that she had a bottle of Maybelline Great Lash mascara and it looks the same.  I guess that is one way for consumers to recognize a product....by keeping their product packaging the same.  I think it is cute....a little reminder of my childhood when I would watch my mom get ready.

So, knowing that I already have a go-to mascara, what did I think about this one?  Do it get my approval?  Do I like the royal blue color?  Well, what are you waiting for....click the video below to watch my review.

If you would like to pick some up for yourself Amazon has them for cheap and you don't even have to leave the house!!!

Zesty Lemon Poke Cake

This recipe is for all my lemon lovers out there.  I am beginning to love that zesty lemon zing, but let me tell you, it did take awhile.  I have been making lemon cakes and bars for a while now and I hear nothing about good reviews from my people so I thought it was time to share with y'all.

One thing that I do love about lemon is that it is so easy to work with.  If you like the whole sweet and sour combination that lemon desserts are your thing.  I believe most of my residents like the sweet and sour combination because they practically beg me to make one of my lemon desserts.

So, here is my zesty Lemon Poke Cake.....I hope you enjoy it as much as my people do.

Sponsed Post: Useful Decor Ideas For Your Home

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

This is a sponsored post that contains affiliate links

When I go shopping, I always check out the home decor section of each store. So many decorations I see are completely useless and I always wonder why people would want to spend money on them, but of course, to each his own! I started thinking about it and there are so many useful decor items out there that would help you, your guests and your household, so I wanted to help you out by coming up with a list. Check it out below:

Useful Decor Ideas For Your Home

Candles
I have candles everywhere in my house. They not only look good, but they smell even better. When I have candles lit around the house, it makes my home feel more inviting and also clean. If you put them in candle holders, or decorate around each candle, it gives it an extra touch and will fit in with your other decor more compared to a plain candle. One of my favorite ways to use candles is for a table setting. If you are trying to have a romantic dinner, add a few candles and dim the lights. While searching Pinterest, almost all of the pictures under “romantic dinner tables” include candles and flowers.

pascal-muller-151589.jpg

Blanket Basket
Blankets are so important to have sitting around for house guests, but having too many blankets everywhere makes your house look cluttered and can even make you uncomfortable when they start falling on you while you are sitting on the couch trying to relax. Adding a wicker blanket basket by your couch, or an upholstered, soft basket to bedrooms is a great way to keep your blankets put away neatly, while adding a piece of decor to your home.

Herb Box
Having an herb box in your home is an amazing way to add a pretty home decor piece while also being able to eat your herbs that you grow. According to Wellness Mama, there are quite a few health benefits from eating herbs and spices, and growing your own is definitely ideal.

matt-montgomery-3790.jpg

Cork Holder
If you are a big wine drinker, having a cork holder can be a great item to add to your home! If you think about it, cork holders reduce (a small amount of) trash, so you are not only getting a useful decor piece out of it, but you are also keeping your household green, even if it is only one cork at a time. There are so many different options for cork holders - I have seen some on walls, some that sit on the ground and others that are small enough to sit on the counter - I think this is all about what you prefer.

Coat Rack
Coat racks used to be pretty plain and then they went out of style for a while, but they are back and better than ever! If you search around, you can find very pretty coat racks that will add some character to your home. Sit the coat rack by the door that most of your guests come in - this way, they can always drop their coats, hats and bags when they first come in the door and you will not have to worry about them sitting around.

Sword
A quality sword is an amazing option to have mounted on your wall and it has a few great uses! Not only does it add a conversation piece to your home that your guests will talk about, but it also adds a self defense option. Not all swords are “quality,” though, so make sure you do you research on where you purchase yours from!

Swords of Northshire sells many hand forged and battle ready weapons for your use. On top of battle ready swords, they also offer knives and collector’s replicas, as well, so if you are a movie or video game fan, be sure to check those out! Customer service is their top priority, so you always know that your sword or knife from Swords of Northshire will be the best product out there. If you do not know much about swords, do not fear! They make it very easy to answer all of your questions by providing a number for you to call, an email, and also a very helpful live chat.

House Plants
House plants are the best kind of decor piece you can have around. It is a proven fact that being outdoors reduces your anxiety and stress levels, so why not bring the outdoors inside? Not only do plants reduce anxiety and stress levels, but they will also add color to your room and they will purify the air. Don’t forget to research what the best plants are, recommended by NASA!

Lamps
I feel like this might be an obvious one, but lamps have definitely become decorative pieces! A long time ago, people would use just any kind of lamp that worked, not caring about how they look. More and more, I see “styles” of lamps flooding the stores. This is an easy addition to your home that will add the perfect small touch and the good part is that updating your side lamps is not that expensive!

michael-browning-227688.jpg

I hope this short list of useful decor ideas helps you out! Do you have a favorite decorative item that you have in your home? Let me know below and don’t forget to check out Swords of Northshire when you are in search for your next sword to mount!

While we'd love to, we can't send you to Hawaii but we can send TWO lucky readers a 40 count box of Java Factory Flyin' Hawaiian Coffee to bring some of the flavor of Hawaii to them.
