Must See: Organized 31's DIY Necklace Organizer

Blogger Spotlight - Ramblings Thoughts shares fellow bloggers DIY posts

Some of y'all will remember that I used to spotlight fellow bloggers for their DIY projects that I just loved.  Well, I really like sharing other bloggers' work but also I like offering y'all some DIY projects even though I don't do them.  Personally, I think I would end up hurting myself if I was left alone with craft supplies and no idea what I was going to do with them.  I have no problem seeing someone else do the project and then copy what they did.  But to come up with my own DIYs would not go over very well.  So, I am just going leave that to the professionals and share their work for y'all to enjoy and make your own.

With it being January, most people already know that the trend for January is not only fitness but also organization.  Both of which interests me so much but I do not do nearly enough.  Being pregnant, I am still looking into fitness regimes that would be save for me and baby.  However, organizing is something that I really do want to focus on now more than ever.

Personally, I think when everything is organized and planned, your life just runs a whole lot smoother.  You are not missing anything important and you are not running around your house tearing things apart trying to find something that was right under your nose the whole entire time.  (I hate when that happens because then I have to go back and clean up all the stuff I tore apart just to find that one item.)

The only thing with organizing things, is if you just go to the store and buy all your organizing stuff, it can take it's toll on your wallet.  With it being right after the holidays, no one really wants to fork out a bunch of money just to organize all their stuff that they have.  That's why it is always better to make up your own organizational items.

For women, we have a bunch of items that can be organized such as, shoes, scarfs, makeup, and necklaces just to name a few.  Necklaces are something that can be a bit of a pain to have if you are not properly organizing them because they can tangle, which can be super frustrating.  If they don't tangle, they can when you have to dig around for that one necklace that you are looking for to complete your look.  Well, I found the blogger that has fixed this pesky little problem with a cheap DIY.

To-Do: Organized 31's DIY Necklace Organizer - Check out this cheap and easy DIY necklace organizer.

Susan, over at Organized 31, shares her $5 DIY Necklace Organizer.  She brilliantly takes four cheap items and combine them to make a wonderful organizer for your necklace that not only keep them from tangling but also allows you to showcase them and easily see every necklace at once.  So, what are you wait for, click on the link above to check out how to make your own necklace organizer.  While you are there, like Organizer's social media accounts to stay up to date with all her organizing posts.

Healthy Eating: Texas Caviar

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Healthy eating....ugh...most people (like me, especially right now) don't really want to do it....there are other foods that we would much rather enjoy.  Foods like homemade macaroni & cheese, cookies, cakes, chowders, pizza....you name it.  However, if you don't want your hips and thighs to reflect all your bad eating habits, you limit all those yummy foods and you make the majority of your eating habit a healthy one.

No matter how much my taste buds love the taste of warm, cheesy, gooey mac & cheese (and so does my unborn baby), I cannot eat it every day.  To be honest, my body does feel better when I am eating healthier because I am providing my body with different nutrients my body needs.

The trick to eating healthy is to make meals and food that taste good (I know, that was a shocking revelation).  Just because you are eating something that is good for you, it doesn't mean that the food has to taste bland or 'healthy'.  For me it is all about finding foods that I like normally and then researching how to use them in a healthy recipe.

With this in mind, that is when I stumbled across a bean and veggie mixture that I friend of mine made and I fell in love with it!  Of course I added my touch to the recipe but it is my go to for when I want a healthy side dish or a dip for when I want tortillas or even when I just want a snack!

Texas Caviar
The perfect go to when you want a healthy snack or dip for your tortilla chips.

What you need:

1 can black beans, drained
1 can black olives, drained
1 can sweet corn, drained
1/2 red onion, chopped
1 large green pepper, chopped
1 jalapeno pepper, chopped
1 pint roma tomatoes, quartered and sliced
8 oz. Kens Zesty Italian dressing
1 tbsp. minced garlic

1.  Combine all the ingredients in a large bowl.
The perfect go to when you want a healthy snack or dip for your tortilla chips.

2.  Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours.  Enjoy!

Mumma Journey: Top Stockpile Items Before Baby's Arrival - prepare for your baby's arrival with a list items to stockpile and suggested amounts.

So, I think must expecting first time mummas will get researching for all kinds for information that pertains to having a baby, just so they are better prepared.  Anything that will help ease the stress of bringing a baby into the world.

Free Gift from Amazon with $10 Registry purchase
If you ask other mothers, they will tell you that you need all kinds of different things just so you will always have them on hand.  From what I am gathering, the reason you want multiples of things is because if something is dirt you don't have to hurry to the washer to get it cleaned if you have more of them.  Or a bunch of other mothers tell you that you will have a bit of memory problems, so having doubles of things like a stocked diaper bag in two different locations will come in handy if you ever forget to restock your go-to diaper bag.

Then there are items that you would want to stock up on that are not for the baby but for you and your partner.  A stockpile of certain items that will help you two focus on settling into a routine with your baby and let the mumma heal a bit before she has to go out and about shopping.  But with all the items for the baby and now you and your household it can be a bit overwhelming.  How are we suppose to keep track all these items?  And how many of what do we need?  Well, below you will find a list of all the items we need that I have taken from family members, other mothers, and even the internet.

                                  For you and the household:
Freezer Meals
Toilet Paper
Paper Plates & Cups
Paper Towels
Laundry Detergent
Dish Soap or Detergent
Shampoo & Conditioner
Body Wash (or soap)
Hand Soap
***All items you should stockpile enough to get you through the first month or at least 2 weeks.***

                                                For Baby:
Crib Sheets (at least 2)
Plush Blankets (at least 2)
Swaddle Blankets (at least 4)
Swaddle Wraps (at least 2)
Hampers/Storage Bin (at least 3)
Changing Pads (at least 2)
Hooded Towels (at least 2)
Wash Clothes (at least 4)
Onesies (at least 6)
Sleeping gowns (at least 4)
Pants (at least 4)
Socks/Booties (at least 4)
Hats (at least 2)
Mitts (at least 2)
Bottles (at least 3)
Pacifier (at least 4)
Burp Cloths (at least 6)
Diapers (1 box newborn, 648 size 1 and 558 size 2
Diaper Bag (2, one for your go-to and one left in your car)

***Now, these are just some of the things that you should have multiple of.  You can adjust your list as you see fit.***

Clip Click Pens

Clip Click Pens Review - Check out why I think these pens are a Planner Must Have

I don't know about y'all but I hate just writing plain ole blue or black ink.  This is especially true when I write in my planner.  In fact, if y'all remember, one of my New Year resolutions for 2018 is to be more organized...in other words write every aspect of my life down in a planner (click here to check out what my resolutions are).

If y'all caught my post on my planner (click here to check it out), you will know that I am not one of those planner addicts that set out to decorate my planner with colorful stickers, drawings and accessories.  I just don't have the time, money or patience for it, even though I would love to.  So with that being said, making my planner colorful is only going to happen by me using a color code system.

The problem with doing a color-code system is figuring out what pens/markers to use.  They have to be just right for me.  I don't want them to bleed on the paper.  I am also very particular on the ease of how a pen/marker writes (I know, I am crazy) and there has to be a good variety of different pretty colors.  Then when I do finally decide on a set of pens/markers to use for color-coding, I now have to figure out which color to use for each task.  To be honest, I typically go through and pick out the most prettiest ones for the tasks that have to write down the most.

So, with the new year and my dedication to sticking to my resolutions, I had to take on keeping my life organized in a planner, which means after finding a planner that I want to use, picking out pens or markers to make my planner colorful.  I ended up picking up a pack of Clip Click Inc pens.  You can pick up some for yourself here for cheap!!!

Was it worth my $7?  Are they colorful?  Click the video below to find out...

Shopping Hack: January's What to Buy

Shopping Hack: January's What to Buy - a list of items you can snag the cheapest this month

I am staying on track with my resolutions this year and one of them is to bring back/finish sections in the blog that I started.  Some of you may remember that last year I started a section called, 'What to Buy' within that month.  Now, I did start doing this last year but I never completed it.  So, this year I am going to finish it and I am starting this time with the right month...the first month of the year.

I don't know about y'all but I do love getting new items.  It feels like Christmas for me.  On the flip side, I don't like spending my money on those new items.  I wish I could get them for free.  Unfortunately, that don't always happen.  So, when I do have to buy something, I hate when I buy it just to find out that if I had waited a little bit I could have gotten it cheaper.

Well, that is why many retailers have their own app that will track your purchases and give you money back if an item you purchased dropped in price within a certain amount of time after you bought it.  The only problem with that is the fact there is a time limit to those price drops and you have to remember to log your purchases.  I really don't want to go through the hassle of that....this is why I have created the 'what to buy' based on each month section in my blog.  At any given month, there are certain items that will be priced at their absolute lowest, which equals time to stock up or at least get what you will need.

So, let's get started....here is what you will find the absolute cheapest this month!

Gift Cards

Holiday Decorations, Wrapping Paper, Cards, and Bags

Wedding Items

Exercise equipment

Gym Memberships

Diet foods and accessories

Cold medicine, vitamins and cough syrup

Winter Sweaters, Coats and Scarfs

Children Toys

Office Supplies

*The following fruit and vegetables are prime for the taking: citrus, pears, blueberries, carrots, cauliflower, cabbage, spinach, collards, celery, broccoli and leeks.  You can also snag frozen turkeys this month for cheap*

*Also, save on perfume and jewelry by buying them right before retailers jack up the prices for Valentines*

Weight Watchers Magazine

Weight Watchers Magazine Review- Before you buy the subscription, check out my thoughts

I am not sure if you know this or not, but I have used Weight Watchers on and off for some time now.  In fact, through following the Weight Watchers program (and exercising, of course) I was able to lose over 100 lbs.  Granted, because I have not been following the program for well over a year now and I have not been going to the gym, I have gain 40 lbs back but that's what happens when you don't take care of yourself.

You can snag this awesome cookbook here

I love Weight Watchers. Personally, I think it is the best diet program around.  You are able to eat all the foods you normally eat, you just have to portion it out properly.  The program is customized to your height, weight and physical activity.  They also have an app that you can download when you join, that tracks all your activities, water consumption, and food intake.  Then they also have a wide variety of products and foods that you can buy at Walmart and some grocery stores.

A little while ago, I was scrolling through Facebook (as usual) and one of my fellow bloggers posted that everyone could request a FREE subscription to Weight Watchers magazine....of course I jumped right on it.  This was so perfect, I love Weight Watchers to begin with and to top it all off, the subscription
was FREE!

So, what can you expect from the magazine?  Is it worth the $15 subscription fee?  Click on the video below to check out my thoughts!

Easy 'Ramen' Soup

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Anyone that every had to pinch some pennies know there are certain foods that you turn to.  Pasta, ramen soups and junk food are definitely on that list of go to foods.  It is said when healthy food is too expensive so your diet consists of simple carbs, plastic, and fake food.  For instance, you can go into a Circle K and snag a large cup of soda for $0.75 but a bottle of water is over $1.  But most of y'all already know this.

I am not here to ramble on about this price of food.  I will take the flack for saying this but I love Ramen noodles.  I used to eat them all the time when I was in high school and even now throughout my adulthood.  Recently, my mother found several articles online stating that the packages and cups of instant ramen soups have such negative effects on your body when consumed on a regular basis.  According to one article I found, eating instant ramen on a regular basis can be linked to heart disease, diabetes and stroke risk (click here for the full article).

However, to be honest, even after hearing this news, I would still eat them.  Not only did I like them but they were cheap and filling.  Unfortunately, whether or not I agree with the articles and studies, now that I am pregnant, I have to be more conscious about what I am put in my and my baby's body.  I still have to worry about how much money I spend but I have been finding alternative options for food that ends up being more healthy.  That includes ramen soup.

2.  Add frozen vegetables to water and bring water back to a boil.

3.  Add spaghetti and cook for about 8-10 minutes or until spaghetti is done.  Enjoy!

With the holidays behind us and the New Year in full swing now, I wanted to take the time to reflect last year's progress with you.  Most of us all make some sort of New Year's resolutions and of course I made my personal ones, such as, get back to my healthy living with proper eating and exercise, to do more that makes me happy and to not allow people to effect my moods.  However, I also made a couple resolutions for my blog.

The year of 2018 is going to be Rambling's year, at least that is what I am setting out for it to be!  I want to maintain a strict schedule for myself to ensure that I am posting 3 new posts each week and sending out the weekly newsletter.  Not only do I want to continue to grow my Mumma Journey section of the blog, but I also plan to expand and share other awesome blogger posts.  In June, I want Ramblings facebook to have 5,000 likes (only 1,511 likes away), Ramblings youtube channel to have 1,000 subscribers, and to have 500 email signups.  I do have some other 2018 goals for Rambling but these ones are the ones that is going to be my main focus.

Ok, so my hope of sharing my resolutions with y'all is that hopefully I will be likely to stick to these resolutions because I am not the only one that knows about my goals.  I want to be able to share my Resolution Journey with y'all, I will even do 3 month updates throughout the year.  However, this would be an awesome journey to take with y'all.  What are y'all's resolutions/goals for 2018?  Let me know and at every 3 month update that I post, I will ask y'all about your goal updates.

So, to end my 'rambling', here are Ramblings top 10 posts of 2017!!!!

Planahead Life Is Colorful Coloring Planner

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

A new year always brings new hopes and expectations.  January is always the month that everyone focuses on fitness and organization.  Organizing and planning things out is not only a time saver but also a stress reliever.  If you have everything planned and organized, you know what you are doing, where you are going and who you will be with at any given time.

This is why so many people are jumping on the planner bandwagon.  And let's face it, there are a boat load of planners to choose from and accessories to go with them.  To be honest, I love seeing other people's planners that customize them with stickers and drawings and glitter oh my.  Realistically though, I don't have the drive or the artistic ability to decorate my planner every week.  To be completely honest, I barely have enough drive to keep my planner updated.

With that being said, I have to turn things around this year.  I need my life to be a bit more organized.  I have my cleaning company (Elite Cleaning Services), I have my little bundle of joy on the way which includes a bunch of Dr appointments that I can't miss, I have this blog that I want to really grow this year and I have my personal life.  Recently, I have found myself forgetting more and more things, such as, an appointment two weeks ago and a few posts were not properly set up but were published.  For me, this is not okay.  So, I have set out to have a better year and to stay on top of things and the only way I am going to be able to do this is if write down EVERYTHING in a planner and super glue that planner to my side so that I will always have it at the ready.

Planahead Life is Colorful Coloring Planner Review - Ramblings Thoughts lets you know why this planner is the IT planner of 2018

Now that I have come to the conclusion to use a planner for my life, it is time to chose which one.  I have in the past made my own and I have purchased ones from Walmart, but neither ones of those ended up being planners that I loved.  I have flipped through the Be Happy and Erin planners but I just wasn't really into them for one reason or another.  So, the other day, my mother and I was out shopping and stumbled across an adorable planner at Walmart for under $10!

So, what do I think about it?  Is it worth it?  Check out the video below to find out what I think about the planner.

Unfortunately, the last time I checked Walmart was sold out of these planners.  However, Amazon
has some awesome coloring planners for a decent price.  This one, I have my eye on for next year.

Dirty Rice

Click here to review my disclosure policy!  This post does contain affiliate links!

Comfort food is the best when it is cold outside.  Living up here in Maine, it gets COLD.  This morning it was -5 outside and that kind of cold just sticks to your bones.  Even though I love the winter because of how pretty it is and the fact that you can go play in snow, I really don't like the negative degree weather.  Days like today, all I want to do is stay cuddled up with my hunny under many blankets.  Unfortunately, I don't always get to do that if we want to be able to pay our bills.

So, for those days when my hunny and I have to go out a face the brutal subzero temperatures, I want to make a dinner that is comforting, filling and sticks to our bones.  Likely, we both enjoy spicy foods because now that I am pregnant that is what I want most of the time.  Plus there is no better way to heat up your soul and clear out your sinuses than with some good old spicy comfort food.

The one comfort food that comes to mind with spice and the sticking to your bones credentials would be dirty rice.  Now, when I was younger, I remember eating dirty rice that my mom would make from a box.  It was filling, but I just didn't care for it that much because the brand she used had dehydrated beans and some seasonings that I just didn't like.  However, now that I am in charge of the kitchen (most nights when my hunny doesn't cook), I am able to play with ingredients and come up with my own version for common dishes.

Dirty Rice
